Nicholas Weaver will present on snap, an open telemetry framework designed to gather an increasingly diverse amount of measurements from the data center. The design of snap pays close attention to an architectural model that is painlessly extensible. By doing so, Intel built a framework anyone can adopt, extend, and improve upon in a way that benefits all users.
In his talk, Nicholas will explore the design decisions chosen from day one, the more painful architectural tradeoffs they had to make to do so and how you could build a project with similar considerations in mind. The talk will pay close attention to designing for extensibility, including a plugin architecture with nonblocking operations and designed to be deployed, updated and implemented at large scale.
